Remove shyness COMPLETELY from your life. These UNKNOWN tricks will help you get rid of it once and for all (one simple video to fix it!)

GET FREE CONSULTING CALL: http://bit.ly/RSDMaxFreeCallApply02

Overcome shyness once and for all. This is stuff that the beloved mainstream would – of course – never teach you. Coming from the words of a guy who’s been dealing with shyness his whole life.

Look, overcoming shyness is not something you need to worry about for the rest of your life. In fact, you can remove shyness completely if you’re willing to work on it.

First of all, understand where shyness comes from and what HUGE rule social conditioning has played in it. Secondly, accept the fact that you’re shy. It’s simple: you want to stop being shy, well, first accept being shy.

Thirdly: make a DECISION. Decide, right now, that you’re going to put in the work in order to life a life free of shyness, once and for all.

Then, build the right habits. Build a frame, redefine your reality. A reality full of confidence and without shyness. Read those frames out every day. Multiple times per day if you can.

Then: take cold showers, train that prefrontal cortex! Beware that with shyness it’s much more about consistency other than perfection. If you consistently do something you’re afraid of every day then you’ll be able to overcome shyness much much better!

That being said, watch the video, execute on those points and maybe jump on a consulting call with me and my team soon!

Autism Representation in the Media

autism No Comments »

April is Autism Acceptance Month, and as such I thought it was appropriate to make a video talking about Autism and the Autism Spectrum representation in the media. I realize that I’m uploading this video in May, but it took me a long time to make.

There’s many creative famous people with on The Spectrum (or with ASD). Including Dan Aykroyd, Dan Harmon and Satoshi Tajiri. Autistic characters in the media also include Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty, Carl Gould from Arthur and Abed Nadir from The Community.

In today’s video we discuss basic Autism knowledge and terms, famous people on the spectrum, canon autistic characters as well as head canons, and harmful media tropes and portrayals of those on the spectrum.

Share your experiences and head canons in the comments down below! Hateful comments will be deleted. People reading through the comments are encouraged to report hateful and bigoted comments.

How to Overcome Shyness

Video Summary:
Shyness is not innate. We can experience shyness in various settings, typically more acutely in some than in others. Don’t label yourself as a shy person. Your shyness is reversible, not a life sentence you must drag around with you forever.

Shyness tends to emerge when we suffer from self-image issues that make us overly worried about what others think. It can appear as lack of eye contact, stuttering, or inability to approach others. One technique to overcome shyness is to care less about what others think. The best method for addressing shyness is to leave your house more. Become more social. For example, join a group with similar interests.

If you’re shy at work, strike up friendships with one or two co-workers whom you invite to coffee or lunch. Gradually expand the circle to more people. Interacting in a casual environment will help you be more comfortable sharing your opinions in meetings and cubicles.

To become less shy with the opposite sex, go out with your friends at night, and imitate them, if you feel uncertain. Go bowling or to a concert if not to a bar or a club. Practice being less shy by chatting up service workers who assist you at the cashier counter or the restaurant. They’re paid to be nice to people — you can start perfecting your conversation skills with them. They’ll appreciate being treated like human beings, not robots.

When Marielle moved from Baltimore, Maryland to Mountain Brook, Alabama, she struggled to cope with the anxiety she had previously come to terms with. This is her story of recognition, affirmation, and hopefully, inspiration.

Marielle Cornes is a ninth-grade student at Mountain Brook Junior High and a member of the MBJH TEDEd Club. She enjoys reading, playing with her dog Rosie. Also, she spends most of her weekends on college campus debating about education.

This talk was filmed at TEDxYouth@MBJH 2018 held April 14, 2018 at Mountain Brook Junior High School in Mountain Brook, Alabama. Marielle Cornes is a ninth-grade student at Mountain Brook Junior High. She enjoys reading, playing with her dog Rosie, and arguing with her parents. It’s true; you should ask them. What is High Functioning Autism? | Kati Morton

ARE U OK? http://geni.us/sva4iUY
People who fall into the high functioning portion of the spectrum often live lives just like anyone else who’s not on the spectrum. They are said to be higher functioning cognitively than others on the spectrum.
SYMPTOMS:
Just like anyone on the Autism Spectrum high functioning people can still struggle with communication, making eye contact, and socially interact overall. Since interacting with others can be so difficult, those who are high functioning often report feeling very anxious prior to a social gathering, and being wiped out afterward because it takes SO much energy to engage with others.
Anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder & depression are the most common comorbidities with HFA, and research shows that OCD and HFA commonly occur together because they both are affected by any abnormalities in a person’s serotonin production. Based on that information we could conclude that all comorbidities can be caused and affected by serotonin changes. I also believe that because people with HFA are more aware of their differences from others they could feel anxious about interacting with people or even depressed about their struggle to connect. Sometimes having insight and awareness into our own conditions can be hard to handle, and could lead to other mental health issues.
People with HFA may struggle to understand jokes, or sarcasm from their peers. Therefore they can appear “mature for their age” but they are really just uncomfortable in social situations. They can have delayed initial speech, but later develop functional communication. They can have obsessive actions regarding appearance, cleanliness, fears and social situations, and also shortened attention spans.

TREATMENTS: ASD isn’t something that people grow out of, nor is it something that needs to be cured, but there are many supports:
1. Occupational therapy OT: an occupational therapist is there to help develop skills for handwriting, fine motor skills, and activities of daily living skills. 2. Speech therapy: a speech therapist helps your child learn spoken language and/or nonverbal communication skills.
3. ABA therapy: applied behavior analysis focuses on techniques that help guide learning and bring out meaningful and positive change in behavior. 4. Psychotherapy: psychotherapy uses a variety of techniques to help children who experience anxiety, depression, OCD, or other psychiatric systems that cause problems for the autistic child. 5. Floor time therapy: floor time activities derive from the idea that we as parents can help our children by meeting them on their level to expand circles of communication. 6. RDI therapy: relationship development intervention therapy is a family-based, behavioral treatment designed to address autism’s core symptoms by appreciating all perspectives, coping with change and integrating information from multiple sources such as light and sound.
7. PEC therapy: picture exchange communication is used with nonverbal autistic children to learn to communicate without words so that they can make choices and communicate their needs and minimize their behaviors so that they can be a much happier child.
8. Aquatic therapy: using swimming as therapy increases the effectiveness of all other forms of treatment by learning better balance, communication skills, sensory issues, and oral motor skills.

3 Ways to Beat Social Anxiety! | Kati Morton

Anxiety is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. When we talk about social anxiety, that worry or nervousness is focused primarily on social interactions.
Anxiety is made up of 3 different components: The physiological part, cognitive part, and behavioral part.
Physiological Part: This is how anxiety feels in your body. The racing heart, sweaty palms, flushed face, or feeling faint. This is one of the most important components of anxiety because it’s the first one that people notice.
Cognitive Part: Our thoughts or thought processes. Any anxious thoughts we have would fall into this category. Such as “I am going to make a fool or myself” or “they will just think I am boring.” Any prediction that comes out of our anxiety would be considered part of the cognitive part.
Behavioral Part: For something to be part of this component it needs to be something someone else could notice us doing. This could be not making eye contact, stuttering or even fidgeting. This could also be something we aren’t doing because we are avoiding it, but someone could still notice that we didn’t go to lunch with the team like everyone else. Therefore avoiding something because of our anxiety would still fall under this category.
Most people with social anxiety don’t just experience one component. In fact, these 3 parts usually work together to intensify our anxious episodes.

Therefore in order to overcome our social anxiety we are going to have to fight back against all 3 of them! The first step is Systematic Graduated Exposure. Which is honestly just a fancy way of saying that we are going to have to slowly expose ourselves to the scary or anxiety provoking thing until it’s no longer so scary.

I have talked about exposure therapy in the past, and this is very similar, however, this is specific to social anxiety and it’s treatment. It’s important that this type of exposure therapy be done with a mental health professional so that we can role play different scenarios in session, and get feedback on how it went. It also allows us to play out any situations or circumstances that we are afraid will happen when we try to do this outside of therapy.

It also works because it gives you the time you need to see that any of the bodily responses you are having to the anxiety will go away after awhile. As long as we are able to stay in the anxiety-provoking situation we can realize that our feelings of anxiety only last for a bit. And the more we practice it and expose ourselves to the anxious experiences, the better it gets. Also, by role-playing an anxiety-provoking social situation, we can test out any of our dysfunctional beliefs.

How Autism Feels, From the Inside | Op-Docs

autism No Comments »

What is it like to live with Asperger’s syndrome? Jordan Kamnitzer tries to answer that question in “Perfectly Normal,” this week’s Op-Doc. It’s beautifully directed by Joris Debeij, who frames Kamnitzer’s experiences and ideas with evocative cinematography and editing, giving us a beautiful but challenging glimpse into another way of being.

In a related essay, the writer Eli Gottlieb describes it as “a rare filmic experience of the sensory overload of autism … as Jordan, the articulate middle-aged subject of the film, speaks about his own condition, the music skitters and booms, rapid jump cuts intensify the sense of danger, and in this swelling moment of uncertainty, the viewer experiences a fleeting sense of what it might be like to live in a condition of permanent, anxious neural flood.”

Gottlieb grew up with a severely autistic older brother, but even after 40 years, “find[s] his emotional and cognitive process as fundamentally mysterious as ever. The impenetrability of autism, with its seemingly endless variants and its essential “otherness,” is its hallmark. All this renders Jordan’s testimony that much more useful and intriguing. He is a reporter at a hinge-point of consciousness, able to inhabit his condition while describing it for us — whether we are “neurotypicals” or lodged somewhere on the spectrum — with remarkable precision and insight.”

#shyness #selfconfidence #introvert

Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/

SUMMARY:
– If you have a tough inner voice constantly judging you super harshly and putting you down, then you’ll be more prone to removing yourself from social situations because you expect to be judged by others just as relentlessly.
– Shy quiet people are just as smart, successful, competent, and interesting as extroverts. The only difference is that shy people might have a hard time talking about what makes them unique, so others don’t get a chance to notice it.
– Being in a large group of friends or acquaintances can be an awkward experience for people who suffer from social anxiety. But still, don’t wait for others to ask how you’re doing, how your projects are going, or what you did this weekend. Take the initiative to tell your friends what’s going on in your life.
– Body language tells you so much about a person. In social situations, people who feel awkward or shy might cross their arms or legs, avoid eye contact, angle their body away from others, stand or sit further away, or lower their head. They might also hide behind their phone or always keep it in hand.
– If you’re shy, you’re probably skilled at declining invitations just to avoid social interaction. You might even come up with excuses or go out of your way to avoid someone or some event. But when you say “no,” you create a barrier that closes off opportunities.
– If you’re out with a group of friends and you’ve said something incorrectly or you think you sounded foolish, it gets that critical inner voice going and you get so caught up in your self-demeaning thoughts that you totally disengage with what’s happening at the present time.
– Overcoming shyness isn’t just about learning to talk to people, it’s also about the basic principle of doing the things you’re scared to do. You learned earlier that a fear of being judged usually plays a big part in being shy.
